The Underappreciated Star of Period Products: The Period Panties

Reading Time: 2 minutes

I almost didn’t post today. My planned content a guest post didn’t pan out and so I’m pivoting and I want to say that the true star that saved the day is my Q1 content plan because I’m drawing from an idea listed for March 2026.

A side note: your creativity and idea well never runs dry, the more you tap into it the more you will find.

Let’s dive in. Here’s why I love period panties.

Period Panties Appreciation

I will not be naming or recommending a specific brand but I have been using the same brand and style of period panties for the last five years. I repurchase the same cut, colour and style. I found them online via a random search and I kept buying them.

Now I’ll say this: I have never used period underwear alone. I really should test it but I simply use them as a backup on heavy days and always at nights to sleep in with a menstrual sanitary pad.

Period panties offer me a peace of mind when I’m sleeping or on heavy days if I have to be out and about.

At this stage in my life this is the perfect combination of period care products.

Other Menstrual Care Products That I’ve Tried

In the past, say from 2018 to 2019, I primarily used a menstrual cup and it worked really well. But cleaning it became a bother. Lately I’ve seen bundles that includes a steam cleaning kit and so menstrual cups have indeed come a long way. There are also discs but I personally haven’t tried one of those.

Good ole tampons come in handy on certain occasions but in the last year or two I haven’t used one.

Have You Tried Periodic Panties

So I’m not recommending anything here simply sharing or over sharing what has worked for me in the past and what I’m currently loving for my cycle.

Also I’ve seen locally made period panties in Lee’s Family Pharmacy but I haven’t tried them because when I see them they aren’t in my size or if it is in my size, I don’t like the colour. I don’t want red period underwear.

Have you tried period underwear or a cup? What was the experience like for you?
